Every Halloween, Aunt Christine transforms the sprawling Delomary mansion into a festive wonderland, and her homemade candy corn is the star of the show. Deep in the basement, she works her magic in the Qu’elicadêro, her enchanted kitchen, surrounded by the sweet scents of autumn. Her two loyal familiars, Pinky the mischievous multicolored cat and Agamemnon the wise old black cat, assist her with their unique talents—Pinky nimbly gathering ingredients while Agamemnon keeps a watchful eye on the bubbling cauldron. Although the candy corn isn’t exactly magical, each piece is infused with Christine’s love and care, making it a beloved treat for family and friends.

👉Homemade Candy Corn Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Candy Corn Base:
• 1 cup granulated sugar
• 1/2 cup light corn syrup
• 1/4 cup unsalted butter (not margarine)
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
• Food coloring (yellow and orange)
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Pan:
• Line an 8x8-inch pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang to help remove the candy later. Lightly grease the parchment paper.
2. Make the Candy Mixture:
• In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar, corn syrup, butter, salt, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture comes to a boil.
• Once boiling, remove from heat.
3. Mix in Dry Ingredients:
• Add the powdered sugar and baking powder to the saucepan. Stir until well combined. The mixture will be thick.
4. Divide the Mixture:
• Divide the mixture into three bowls: one for yellow, one for orange, and leave one white.
5. Color the Mixtures:
• Add yellow food coloring to one bowl, orange food coloring to the second bowl, and leave the third bowl white. Mix each bowl until the colors are evenly distributed.
6. Layer the Mixtures:
• Start by pressing the white mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Next, press the orange mixture on top of the white layer, and finally, press the yellow mixture on top of the orange layer. Use your hands or a spatula to smooth the layers.
7. Set the Candy Corn:
• Let the layered mixture cool at room temperature for about 2 hours or until set.
8. Cut and Serve:
• Once set, use the parchment paper to lift the candy from the pan. Cut into triangles or the classic candy corn shape.
9. Storage:
• Store the candy corn in an airtight container at room temperature.
Enjoy your homemade candy corn! It’s a fun treat for Halloween or any festive occasion.
